Thesean, God Of Battle

Wolf Lord

Long ago the great and noble Elf lord Cespyn wanted a warrior to walk the land beside him but none of the warriors on earth matched his expectations. One day, Cespyn was walking through the forest and he spied a brutal sight. A troll was attacking a she wolf and her pups. Cespyn went to stop it but was surprised at the sight of a large gray wolf leaping from nearby underbrush at the fearsome troll. The troll had beat at the wolf, and even though the wolf was bloodied and battered it drove the troll off and protected the she wolf and her pups. Cespyn was so moved by the wolf’s bravery that he decided he had found his companion. He reached out to the dyeing wolf and took his head in his hands. His power wrapped around the wolf and started to transform him. Then Cespyn reached into the earth and threw bits of silver into the mixture of wolf and power. From the mixture he created Thesean, who swore servitude to Cespyn. After his creation Cespyn soon realized that Thesean still had the Honor and Loyalty of the wolf he had came from and he was overjoyed.   Thesean grew to be as tall as three men and as strong as twenty. As Thesean grew his body took on the form of a man with silver skin while his head stayed as that of a wolf. In his right hand he held Honor (his sword) and in his left he held Loyalty (his shield). He traveled with Cespyn for many long years but their companionship ended when Thesean turned the tides of a battle because he seen that one side was more righteous and honorable than the other. Cespyn thought that they had no right interfering, and was vocal about his decision. Cespyn could not bring himself to punish Thesean for his insolence told him to go forth and find his own way and his own people.   After this Thesean roamed the land picking the most honorable and brave warriors he found and bestowed upon them gifts on return that they followed his honor code. After a handful of years he had gathered hundreds of knights to fight with him as the Wolves Companions. Together they went into battle to turn the tide against those who would see harm come to Myrium.   But Cespyn started viewing his former thralls' actions as something else, something more sinister. Cespyn gathered together others to meet Thesean on the field of battle, to stop his Companions from swaying the minds of others through the use of force.    On the day of the battle, Thesean met Cespyn in the No Mans' Land in a final attempt to sway his old master from his course of action. Cespyn would not listen, but agreed to settle the battle between the two of them, so no others had to get hurt over their personal quarrel.    Stories passed down from the witnesses of the battle say that it was as quick as it was ferocious. Neither side escaped unscathed, though Cespyn struck first and Thesean struck once and was the victor. A gash in his side, he turned his back on the Elf Lords army and began heading to his Companions, each one standing somber in the face of their Lord.   Then, without warning, Cespyns army attacked Thesean.    The Wolf Lord had no heart to fight, but his Companions rallied him up and together they met their opponent on the field. Tired and weary, Thesean quickly amassed more injuries while taking on his enemies ten at a time. While the bodies piled up around him, he knew his time was limited, but that retreat was not an option or all his Companions would face a terrible price.   With Loyalty and Honor in his clawed hands, he issued a howl and prayer to Tey for the strength needed to finish the battle and protect his allies. Tey, having watched Thesean since his birth as a wolf pup, answered and gave the Werewolf the strength needed to end the fight. Blood fell from his enemies like rain, and to this day the earth where it was held is stained red with the blood of both sides.   The battle over, Thesean collapsed among his men, not one life of theirs had been lost. His injuries grave, not even their Cleric was sure she could save him.    But Tey was not yet finished with Thesean. Reaching down he lifted the Wolf Lord from his mortal body and bestowed upon him true divinity. The Wolves Companions bowed deeply, and each swore to uphold Theseans' Codes of Honor to their last breath.    The Companions still exist throughout Myrium, though now they rarely gather in large numbers unless called upon by the Wolf Lord. And to this day they say Thesean can still be seen as a large gray wolf sitting in the tree by a battlefield waiting for a sign that one side or the other is righteous and noble enough to have his blessing.

Personal history

Born a wolf pup Thesean, then unnamed, grew up to retain the loyalty and honor that wolves posses. As an adult he saw a young dam and her pups being attacked by a troll. Lunging forth he defeated the troll, saving the dam and her pups, but having been dealt a fatal blow. An Elf Noble named Cespyn discovered him, watched the battle, and chose to use his ancient magics to return Thesean to life. Thesean, having changed into a half-man half-wolf, swore loyalty and servitude to Cespyn.    After many years of travelling together, Thesean was sent away from his master when they disagreed on a particular battle and Thesean chose to give aid to one side over the other. Failing to part on good terms, Cespyn left with darkness in his heart while Thesean focused on giving aide to those that show true honor.   Following the break, Thesean built up a notable army called the Wolves Companions. Together they gave aid in battle to the side that was most honorable and needed it. Cespyn continued to grow to despise this, and built an army to face against Thesean.   The day the Companions and Cespyns army faced off, Thesean killed Cespyn in one blow, but not without receiving a harsh gash to his side. Cespyns army broke the code of honor for one on one combat and charged the Wolf-Man, only to be met by the Companions.    During the battle Thesean received many more injuries, but felled hundreds of opponents. Tey saw this feat, and heard Theseans' prayer for help, and chose to raise his soul from the Mortal plane to that of Divinity after the battle was over.
