Township of Alnexia

Alnexia earns its high stature thanks to the archives which sits at the center of the settlement. The citizens of Alnexia are a proud bunch often regarding themselves as an enlightened people thanks to the existence of the archives within their city walls. Ironically, the majority of these commoners rarely step within the archive's grounds let alone enter the building.

Demographics

The city is home to many scholars of all races. The most frequent visitors are Humans and Lemouillites. As this is the case, Alnexia is home to a variety of structures originating from the many cultures that congregate within its walls. The scholars live near the archives in the center of the city. Meanwhile, the farmers, smiths, shopkeepers, etc. occupy the outside and even outskirts of Alnexia.

Government

Alnexia is founded just beyond the Border of Middterh. However, even if it belongs to the Heindenselm Region, due to the its founders being of Human origin, it falls under the governing body of the Human royalty of Middterh. That being said, the Lemouillites High court will often try and gain the favor of the citizens to then govern the city as they please. This means Alnexia is plagued with annual elections to decide their fate. In the current year, Alnexia has been under the rule of the Human royal family for the past 50 years.

Defences

The city is surrounded by a thick wall of red bricks measuring approximately 3.5 metres in height and 2.5 metres in width. The ramparts above allow for patrolling guards to keep watch on the outside and the inside of the city with ease. Of course, the city has their group of guards known as the 'Red shields'.

Infrastructure

Alnexia's biggest asset is undoubtedly the archives. The many ancient records stored within are mostly one of a kind. The proud people of Alnexia keep an uncanny watchful eye on their treasure giving them a powerful monopoly on these texts. Additionally, forming a copy of any of these documents is a criminal offense punishable by death. Otherwise, the township lies between a lively forest to the East and the flowing Couluisso River to the North and West. These landmarks offer a rich number of diverse resources available for commercial use. Finally, Alnexia makes for a wonderful rest stop between the Middterh and Heindenselm Regions. In fact, many Lemouillites, which prefer to travel via the water, find Alnexia to be an incredibly convenient place to stop and rest thanks to its close proximity to the water.

Assets

Once again, the archives serve as the main attraction here in Alnexia.

History

Alnexia was founded before the events which transpired during the war. Any historical documentation of past events that may have inhabited the old settlement were lost among the flames of destruction. Because of this, it is unclear if Alnexia served a similar purpose then as it does today. Once the township was reconstructed in 410 A.V., Alnexia had been nothing more than an average Human settlement often compared to Origin village. However, thanks to one individual's peculiar passion for collecting texts, tomes and more, Alnexia would slowly be transformed into the capital of knowledge. By the year 463 A.V., the complete remodeling of the city was finished. Now with the titular archives at its center, the township of Alnexia was reborn a second time. Originally under the rule of the Human royal family due to its Human population. In 465 A.V., the Lemouillite High court of Lumeria would declare that Alnexia was, in fact, under their rule because of its settlement on Heindenselm soil. From here, Alnexia would be subject to countless conflicts from both sides. This lead to many years of hardship and distrust between the Humans and Lemouillites. Finally, in 475 A.V., a solution was brought forth in the form of an election for the citizens of Alnexia. Each inhabitant of the city is to vote for which faction will rule. Initially, this election was only to be performed once but, after countless accusations, rebuttals and conspiracies, the township fell into the hands of the Lemouillite High court only for another election to be scheduled one year from the original voting date. Ever since, elections have occurred annually and may as well be considered a tradition.

Geography

The township of Alnexia is founded in the flat fields at the North-Eastern edge just passed the border of Middterh. The city is surrounded by various boons of natural resources giving the already famous township another benefit. To the East, beyond the Silent forest, we can see the connecting corner of the Touscanor and Touscanath mountain ranges. Meanwhile, to the West, the flow of the Couluisso river spills into the wetlands of North Middterh.
