The Guardian Temples

All are welcomed in the homes of the Guardians.

Purpose / Function

The temples were built by the people of Terra for the great beings that helped save their world centuries ago. The temples were constructed to be homes to the Guardians as well as a sign of appreciation and dedication to the saviors of Terra. Each temple is given a name. It is unclear if the temples might have been named after the respective Guardian it houses or if the Guardians themselves were given the same name as the temple instead.
  • Temple of Gurdin (also known as Gurdin temple or Gurdin's temple.)
  • Temple of Aurgad (also known as Aurgad temple or Aurgad's temple.)
  • Temple of Nurada (also known as Nurada temple or Nurada's temple.)

Design

Each temple is comprised of an enormous main hall which now houses the Guardian idol statues at their center. The main hall also serves as the tribute altar for people to offer blessings to the gods. (However, this practice is far from common in the current year.) As the temples are mostly built underground thanks to the Burrodonians of old, the main hall is connected to a series of other smaller rooms and corridors some seemingly for the people of Terra while others must have been used by the Guardians themselves centuries ago.

Hazards & Traps

Thanks to the passage of time along with the ignorance of the people, many parts of the temples' interior is considered dangerous as decay sets in.

Alterations

Each of the three Guardians was given their own unique temple. The temple's construction and architecture differs depending on the location where it was built and the people which helped build the temple.

Architecture

The temples are monumental feats of architecture combining the many ideals of the different races of Terra. The Humans and Lemouillites shared equal parts in the design and sculpting of each temple's inner and outer structure. The Burrodonians were responsible for managing the foundation as well as excavating the earth making the majority of each temple's inside underground. The Soarion were of great help transporting resources to the construction sites as the temples were built in remote places. Even the Bibbiten were said to have helped with the construction offering their unique skills to allow the others to fabricate the strange mechanisms that are found within. Additionally, the Bibbiten are said to be responsible for the magnificent patterns that adorn the inside and outside of each temple. One interesting note is the absence of any records of the Namunian members during the construction of the temples. It seems their sequestered way of life had originated farther back than initially theorized.

History

The temples were completed around the year 550 A.V. Prior to their construction, the Guardians lived much like wild animals simply roaming the land of Terra occasionally interacting with the people along their path. It is said the temples were built for the Guardians as thanks for their actions as well as a sign of dedication to the friendship between great beings and Terranians. However, I believe the people might have also pitied the Guardians whom had no place to call their own in the very world they helped save. Thus the temples were conceived and a plan was quickly put into place. In the current year, the temples remain and are often the destination of many pilgrims on journeys of the self. The Guardians no longer reside within and are believed to have returned to their true homes in the heavens. In their place, magnificent stone idols lie in each temple in their image. It is unfortunate, but the temples have long fallen in disarray as fewer and fewer people wish to travel to such remote locations and so, up-keep of the temples became a fleeting afterthought.
