Avis' Nidum

Welcome to the Soarion Capital.

Government

Most Soarion communities follow the leadership of a Chief. The chief is not responsible for all decision making within the community. The elders (Soarion whom managed to live past the age of 40) are honored, admired and greatly respected among the communities. The chief and the elders form a counsel where decisions are made for the good of the village, town or city.

Defences

Living at incredible heights offer excellent natural defenses, thus the Soarion have few enemies. Monsters will occasionally make an attempt to cause trouble. After the events known as the battle of frontier mountain, the Soarion developed a few watch towers with patrols now part of the daily tasks assignment.

Infrastructure

The Soarion have a unique sense of comradery rarely seen among the other species that inhabit Terra. Almost everything is shared among one another. From food & drink to clothing & tools, as if no one had personal belongings. That being said, should someone wish to keep an item safe, they are more than welcome to keep it within their homes so long as it is an item that was made by the individual or gifted by another.   For non Soarion visitors, a few accommodations have been developed over the years. These include walkways, bridges, rest-points and even a Human inspired Inn within Avis' Nidum. Most of these constructions were in fact a collaboration between Soarion and Human kind.

Architecture

A Soarion home is almost entirely made with wood. The base or foundation is usually made of stone either carved directly from the earth or it constructed by gathering many stones, chiseling them in a pattern and fixing each one within a mold and filling the cracks with mortar. The structure is built by placing logs horizontally all around the foundation. These act as the walls of the house, though it is only ever raised up to a Human's torso. All around the the house, more logs are placed vertically as pillars. Each pillar is spaced around 1 meter apart with the space in between acting as windows. The roof is built in a cone shape and placed firmly on the wooden pillars. The cone shape allows for rain or moisture to easily run down and away from the house's interior. Doors are nothing more than curtains. Curtains can also be found around each "window". Every Soarion house has at least one porch in the front. These porches are primarily used as an easily accessible way to take off to the sky and return from a flight.

Geography

Soarion prefer to live at high altitudes such as mountain tops. Avis' Nidum is built far to the West of Terra, near the peak of a particularly intriguing mountain range. This mountain is known as Frontier mountain. The Mountain's peak splits into two. Avis' Nidum is situated on the shorter of the two peaks. No one really remembers why the city was not built atop the highest of the two peaks. This, of course, lead to many rumors and myths as to what lies at the very top. The temperature is incredibly cold near the 'second horn' as it is sometimes referred to. It is largely accepted in the present day to stay clear of this place or risk your life trying to reach the top.

Natural Resources

Pine trees are the most common trees found around the area. Grass appears in patches here and there but the mountain's surface is largely bare.
