Snapper

Overview:
Known for their precious meat and even higher-valued fins, the Snapper is a common variety of sea reptile, and it's one of the few apex predators in the oceans. It's about the size of two dwarf whales, a species it commonly hunts; the average size for a Snapper is anywhere from 6 to 10 meters in length. They have a thick but delicate skin covered in small, smooth scales; these scales are usually either blue, green, dark grey, or a combination of these colors. They live throughout the tropical oceans of Myjior, and are fairly common. They're carnivores, preferring the meat of whales and small fish to any other foods, but they have been known to attack seals, sharks, and even humans and elves.   Traits:
They're crepuscular and rely on their extra sense and taste buds to get around in the hours of twilight that the hunt during, relying on their colouration to strike at prey from below. They have large, almost beady eyes, but they're known to use sensors in their snout to detect movement in the water, especially seeing as they prefer to hunt during the twilight hours. They have almost hidden noses on the very front end of their snout, and pretty much no visible ears. Their heads are long and narrow in comparison to their bodies. These creatures are quite frenzied, and as a result they travel throughout the oceans frequently; thus, they have no real territory nor urges to defend it. They mate once a year and they mate and bond with a select few partners for life. What's different about these creatures is that they will, unlike other reptiles, birth live young. As a result, mother Snappers are very defensive of their young after birth, and will protect them till they are able to defend themselves, typically after a period of 9 months to around 2 years.
