Brinholl

Origin and reputation

Brinholl, literally meaning "Gold Mine" in dwarvish, is also known as the City of Success. Brinholl is a place many travel to each year looking for their own chance to change their luck and make it rich. The city was started by the Stoneshire Family  family hundreds of years ago. Atakins Stoneshire spent his last copper to move and settle on this land with nothing there but an old mine shaft across the lake. He lacked the manpower to start mining operations, so he create a different system. For a single gold per person, he let anyone enter the mine and keep whatever they can mine out. While not rich, Atakins had connections across the continent and his offer spread. People from all over would flock to his mine looking to take home some of the jewels inside. As people came, they brought more people, and tents started turning into shacks, and then into buildings. Even now, centuries later, the Stoneshire mine is still in operation and has become the single biggest mine in the world. And the old system stays. Anyone from anywhere can come and put some gold into the box at the front of the mine to enter, and take home all they can. If you're strong, smart, and a little lucky, you too can strike it rich in Brinholl.   Brinholl, literally meaning "Gold Mine" in dwarvish, is also known as the City of Scams. In modern day, thousands of down on their luck people flock to the city each year, and not everyone can be turn their luck around. Many poor people just became more poor, and would often find alternative ways to make their living. Swindlers and thieves run rampant in Brinholl, and while the government and police are able to maintain the peace, the common citizen must stay vigilant. Most establishments will have their own inhouse security. Those that do make it rich in Brinholl will often follow the other elites and move to the affluent communities in the Capital.

Government

The government of Brinholl is still run by the Stoneshire family and the decedents of Atakins. The Stoneshire family runs the police force and gets the city income from the Mine Toll from people entering the mine.

Industry & Trade

The only real export from Brinholl is gems, gold, and silver from the mine. The mine is the focal point of the economy, and has been extra important in recent years in Lacenia due to being the only silver mine in the country. The Stoneshire mine is the one alternative to the silver rich lands to the west.

Guilds and Factions

As miner arrived to the city, mining parties started forming to be more efficient and fight off save dwelling creatures that they sometimes mine into. As the city grew, these parties grew into the 4 Mining Factions that control the inside of the mine.

Next-Gen Mining

Next-Gen is the second largest mining company, and mainly employs artificers to improve the equipment of the miners they send in. They are the second largest company, but most of their people employed aren't actually miners.

The Called Company

Brought together by Eldath, the downtrodden come to Brinholl to restart their lives. Those needing a second chance are let in the The Called Company, a mining company led by the Church of Eldath in Brinholl. They work to better themselves and earn their second chance.

Bentley's Mining Corps

The Bentley Mining Corps is the oldest and largest mining company in Brinholl. It was named after the founder of the company. The Company is very large, taking in anyone who applies and giving them a pick, and takes a small cut.

The Silver Ravens

The newest Company on the block, run by a duo of Wereravens. This faction is an outcast in the politics of the city, and heavily stigmatized. Due to this, it is the smallest company, but it manages its resources like a scalpel. It has very few men to send into the mine, but somehow always comes back with profit (often at the expense of the other factions).

Points of interest

The Adventurer Guild is an organization that got started in Brinholl, which has since spread across the continent. The Guild's Headquarters is still located in the city.
