Gowyr's Glow

Gowyr's Glow refers to the rare and irregular phenomenon where great arcs of light sprout from the Sun, giving it a the appearance of being covered in strands or spikes of light. This flareup lasts for minutes or hours at a time, and is visible to the naked eye. It is named after Gowyr, the god of the sun and crafts.   More imporant to the kith of the world is what happens after this event; in the night following Gowyr's Glow, the web of magical energies known as Onora's Weave (named after the goddess of magic and dreams Onora) is visible in the sky, illuminating the night sky in complex patterns. These lines are usually invisible to the eyes of mortals, so the night of Gowyr's Glow is a powerful reminder of the forces unfathomable by mortals.   The places where these ever-fluctuating lines of magical energy (known as Threads) cross are known to have special properties. Magic is its strongest where they overlap, and prophetic dreams are believed to result from sleeping under them. Sorcerers are known to build their lairs in regions where such crossings are most likely to happen, and attempts have been made to chart their movement in an attempt to divine the ideal time and place to cast powerful or especially risky magics.   Points where three or more Threads cross are especially potent and sought after. Children born under such crossings are believed to be born blessed by the Deities. According to many myths, wishes that are uttered in these circumstances are fulfilled, but so are curses which are uttered in great grief or rage.
