Schera Zade

"Everyone, you all have truly fought well, the soldiers not here with us, are always with me. Thus, I have to eat their share."

Original Character by Nanasawa Matari from her book The Girl Who Ate a Death God

Hero of Yuuz Schera Zade (a.k.a. Death God)

Schera Zade is a historical figure that was stricken from the records of history after the Yuuz Liberation War. Supposedly, according to records kept by the Keyland Empire, she died at the end of the civil war, but whispers tell of a similar individual among the inquisitors of the Three Star Order. She was known amongst her allies and friends as the Death God due to number of casualties she inflicted during the war and the the fear and awe her command and martial prowess inspired.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Schera Zade is scrawny and short. Below her clothes is a girl so thin that it would be hard to imagine her having any sort of strength, but she carries a scythe larger than her like a twig. It weighs enough that two trained soldiers would struggle to even lift it off the ground, and this girl can swing this weapon so fast that it becomes a blur to the human eye. She is reasonably agile, as well, though she prefers to engage her enemies on horseback.

Physical quirks

Though weak-looking and scrawny, she has immense physical strength. Schera is easily able to lift and swing her gigantic scythe, as well as toss bodies like sacks of flour. She can also throw sickles with extreme speed and accuracy.

Special abilities

Ability Conferment

Schera's subordinates share a large portion of her power and become unafraid of death, often basking in it. They are fearless and can fight at full strength with multiple fatal wounds.
  • Beacon: Schera's subordinates are able to find her in the dead of night with no prior hints or guides, nor tell-tale signs of her being in a hidden location.
  • Absolute Command: Schera's orders are absolute. Her subordinates will carry them out or die trying.
  • Life Beyond Death: Schera's subordinates are known for their loyalty and grit, but few have witnessed the sheer monstrosity of the dead coming back to life. Unless the heads of her subordinates have been cut off, damaged beyond recognition, or all their life-force has been used up, they can and will keep fighting until their orders are fulfilled.
  • Soul Absorption: It is hinted that Schera absorbs the strength of her subordinates when they pass on, as she often states that they will "always be together." Her power seems to grow as her time in the military increases. This ability may also include the strength of those she kills with her own hands.

Aura of Death

Schera's presence seems to have an effect on those that witness her deeds.
  • Approaching End: Schera's bloodlust and killing intent is enough send all wildlife fleeing. Humans feel a sense of dread or foreboding until engagement with her.
  • Madness: Witnessing Schera's slaughter is enough to cause men in to flee in terror, become incapable of separating reality and dreams, or go insane.

Impenetrable Fog

Schera's presence can create a large fog blanket that muffles the senses and spreads fear and unrest among her enemies. It can cover large swathes of land or even an entire city. Those inside of it feel entirely isolated. It embodies her aura, amplifying its effects. It may also transfer her target to a dimension mirroring reality until the fog clears.

Reaper's Shadows

After Schera consumed the second death god, she gained the ability to manifest their aspects. These aspects can attack with her and inspire dread and hopelessness in her enemies.

Weapons

Death's Scythe: Schera's scythe is a grim weapon of massive weight. It is taller than she is, and weighs enough that two fit men from the military would struggle to even lift it off the ground. Needless to say, Schera handles the weapon as if it is light as a feather, spinning and twirling it faster than the human eye can track. The weapon itself is indestructible and inspires dread in her enemies.
Sickles: Schera often hides small sickles by her waist that she uses to quickly take down targets at range. She uses them to decisively take the life of commanding officers in the throng of a melee, or to snipe targets at great range. Her abnormal strength and speed allows her to throw them faster than the human eye can see. Schera is deadly accurate with these sickles: she can easily target open vital areas on moving opponents, and even hit a small target such as the gap between the armor and helmet, all while her prey is retreating on horseback.

Armor

Schera Zade wears form-fitting plate mail with a cardigan for armor. As an inquisitor, she wears a cloak embroidered with the symbol of the Three Star Order, while her armor is engraved with a white raven.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Schera Zade was born in a poor farming village in the Central Border Zone during the economic downturn of the Kingdom of Yuuz before the Yuuz Liberation War. She was the victim of neglect, leading her to become obsessed with filling her belly with food and extremely possessive of any food she could get her hands on. When her village was slaughtered by mercenaries hired by the Yuuz Liberation Army, she encountered a Death God, ate it, possessed its power and scythe, and slaughtered them all. She went on to join the Yuuz Royal Army and become renowned as the Death God, a symbol of fear and slaughter for her enemies. She was eventually thought killed at the end of the war on the cusp of the Liberation Army's victory, but there are rumors that the Death God still walks among men as an inquisitor for the Three Star Order.

Education

Schera was born into a farming family who could not provide for her, so she was left to fend for herself. Her education before she entered the Yuuz Royal Army is nonexistent, and due to the active conflict at the time of her volunteering to join, she is largely self-taught. She learned how to be a commander by watching her superiors in the midst of battle, and due to her mannerisms her presence is amplified on the battlefield.
Outside of battle, it is apparent that she has no education on topics that do not include war. She also has no interest in learning things that do not put her at the heart of battle.

Employment

At the current moment she is an Inquisitor of the Three Star Order, but before that she was a soldier in the Yuuz Royal Army.
She started off like everyone else, as a private, but her achievements had her quickly rise through the ranks. By the time the Yuuz Liberation War was nearing its conclusion, she was a Colonel in the army.

Accomplishments & Achievements

During the Yuuz Liberation War, she was given the Star of the Patriot Knight by the King of Yuuz himself for her accomplishments.

List of Achievements

  • Killing Colonel Voleur, the Spearhead of the Empire. Voleur was a veteran soldier who taught the Royal Guard of the Keyland Empire.
  • Gathering information on the Magic Landmine sorcerer device during the Althia Engagement and successfully taking over command of the routing cavalry unit. She was able to retreat with minimal casualties after the major loss in the field by General Yaldar.
  • Successfully reorganizing her cavalry unit behind enemy lines during the Battle of Althia Crossing, killing Colonel Borjek and routing the enemy, allowing General David to escape.
  • Slaughtering thousands in her escape from Belta Castle when the siege from the enemy was successful.
  • Routing traitors and uncovering a plot by the Liberation Army to surround Roshanak Stronghold, Schera also destroyed the enemies in a reverse ambush.
  • Successfully playing double-agent into Alexander Keyland's army. In a critical moment she sowed chaos among his army, causing them to slaughter each other while she captured the first prince of the Keyland Empire.
  • Killing Gustav Wealth, governor of the Wealth Province, in his retreat after the Madros Deception.
  • Holding out for two months in Cyrus Fortress before exploding out of the fortress to slaughter the surrounding army.
  • Killing the keystone and spymaster of the Liberation Army, Diener, and General Octavio, who betrayed her during the Battle of Bertusberg.
  • Killing the leader of the Lion Cavalry and Hero of the Liberation Army, Finn Kattef, during the second civil war that occurred 30 years later.
  • Halting the invasion of the Horshiedo Empire from the continent of Riberika, who had been unstoppable in their conquest through the D'holbachs Union until they reached the Yuuz Kingdom.

Mental Trauma

Schera Zade was left to fend for herself throughout her childhood, leading to a severe mental illness that causes her to behave oddly and treasure food as the most precious thing of all.
The constant starvation that she suffered through also causes her to vehemently pursue anyone who takes her food as an enemy to be slaughtered.

Intellectual Characteristics

She has a keen sense of tactics that allows her to hone the skills she got from mimicking her commanding officers in order to command her men into battle. She may not have received a proper education, but she has incredible potential for learning.
Schera is also a weapon master when it comes to utilizing reaping instruments such as scythes and sickles.

Social

Social Aptitude

Schera Zade was known as a fearsome warrior during the Yuuz Liberation War, but she is also a charismatic leader that inspired her men to such lengths that they would follow her all the way to hell and back. She is also extremely confident, never swaying from her convictions or decisions, further pushing her men to their limits.
Outside of battle, Schera behaves in a nonchalant, almost flippant manner. Long conversations that do not involve her interests, food and killing traitors, cause her to lose focus.

Mannerisms

Schera's mannerisms can be described as nothing other than peculiar. She attempts to copy the speech patterns of her superiors or peers in the military, but it comes off as mocking or inept, showcasing her lack of education. She is also easily swayed by food, and when food is involved in conversation, she is almost simple to manipulate.
When she is faced with an adversary, she is shrewd, cruel, and mocking. She is well aware of her own power and uses it to trample and humiliate her enemies, taunting and laughing in their faces during battle. When she is truly invested in making her enemies suffer, she is cold and calculating.
