Mount Exile

"Mount Exile. A haven for the damned, and as wretched as their misdeeds"
-Unknown
The tallest summit in the known world, this mountain is homes to Ne-er-do-wells, outcasts, exiles, and the like. The mountain is known for it's deadly inhabitants, but those who reach the top will make even the most jaded of explorers drop their jaws.

Geography

The mountain looks very rough, and large marks left by humanoids and large monsters. One of the most famous of these marks is the Dragon's Eye, a perfect recreation of a dragon's eye. Some say a cabal of medusas' live in the mountain, and they turned a dragon into stone, and the eye is the only part that can be seen. Several people who climb the mountain don't take pieces of this mark, out of respect.
There are two buttes to the side of the mountain, one named Outcast Butte, and the other Slum Butte. These are often used by exiles, to set up camps and small homes. Outcast Butte has a large rock face of which the Ïlonad geshud (Eclispse Fortress) ruins are. Many treasure hunters go to the large rock face to look for ancient coins and artifacts.
The peak has been flattened, and a large statue of Xidial, God of the Sun, resides there. The statue was built by an unknown being, only referred to as Mr. X. He also made several stone tablets ingraved into the mountain, talking about some prophecy most just see as a madman's scrawlings.
The surrounding area of Mount Exile depends on the side you are on. On the north side, it is very wet, and tropical. To the south, very dry and tropical. The mountain's winds bring the little moisture from the south, and bring it to the north. There are several small camps and slums at the base of the mountain. The abundant wood from the north generally makes more people camp out on the north side, even if it means going through Devil's Pass.

Ecosystem

The base of the mountain has many different lifeforms, from the north there is macaws, giant snakes, coutals, flying monkeys, and many more jungle creatures. The many plants feed the macaws and herbivores, while the meats feed the giant snakes and other carnivores. To the south, vultures patrol the sky, and snakes, lizards, and Sand-Wyrms hide in the shade below. The cacti and occasional oasis feeds the creatures' needs.
Both sides don't come up the mountain, excluding vultures, coutals, and flying monkeys, when they set up small nests and lairs. They don't usually bother exiles, unless it's the coutals trying to convince them to atone for their sins, or Sand Wyrms, when they hunt the exiles.
As you get farther up the mountain, you might encounter goblins, wolves, worgs, a bear or two, or even a roc. There are few plants, but those that do make it up here are mosses, small shrubs and ferns. Goblins often dig large pits, and make their homes there. The wolves are not natural to here, they are an invasive species, same with worgs. They often are domesticated by goblins. The bears often kill goblins, and take their pits for their lair. Rocs often make large nests, usually at overhangs or arches. Here, life is brutal. Goblins often takes exiles' food and supplies on raids. Wolves and worgs usually attack single targets, or small groups in packs. Bears often eat goblins, and avoid human life. Rocs often eat all of these, the apex predator in this region.
Nothing really lives at the peak, due to the lack of space and natural water. A couple mosses and mushrooms do make it up here, but they are few and far between. Sometimes, rocs fight each other above the peak during mating season, but they don't stay for long. At the statue, there is a vine on the statue, called Respirandum Vine. It creates a very high amount of oxygen. It only grows here, and no where else. That is how people can see the statue without using magic.

Ecosystem Cycles

Creatures at the base, and middle parts of the mountain stay year round, but they hibernate during winter. Rocs also can stay here. The plants on the mountain are perreninals. Mating season happens in the start of spring, and ends in summers first days. These apply only to non sentient creatures. The best time for hunting is during fall, when creatures are burdened by their food that they carry. Trapping works best during spring, summer, and fall.

Localized Phenomena

Very hard winds often blow during storms, enough to knock a medium humanoid off their feet. They obscure vision if it's raining.

History

The mountain has been estimated to be around several thousand years old, as old as the system, some say.
The first to discover this was Qhin'qie, a human explorer from the northern side. His journal states what happened during his exploration, although some pieces are missing. He was not the first to reach the peak, however, that was done by a future relative named Szish'tar, a second human from the northern side. Both their journals can be found here:
The last known letter from either of these was from Szish'tar, to his family. They have both long passed.
