Throne Law

Purpose

The Throne law is the constitution of the exegi. All laws are based upon this document. It also outlines what power the Reks does and does not have.

Document Structure

Caveats

Changing any law in the constitution is only possible for the Reks. If he does so all his heirs lose their claim to the throne. Changing the throne law makes an end to a dynasty. This caveat was created to prevent the king from changing the Throne law out of lust for power and associated abuse of power.

Legal status

The Throne Law is the document with the highest legal power in the land of the Exegi?

Historical Details

Background

The Throne law defines the basics of how Exegi should interact with each other.

History

Before the creation of the Exegus monarchy the Exegus lands were made up of different tribes and clans, whom all lived in different villages and settlements. These different peoples lived in relative peace, with the occasional small conflict, until the so called incursios. To unite the peoples and let them work together a whole of laws to whom each tribe and clan is willing to adhere. To ensure that the person leading the Exegi did not favor any tribe or clan, the chosen king had to abide by the this constitution, which is kept safe behind a block of granite in the back of the throne.

Public Reaction

Once the constitution was written and ratified the different Exigus people united to defend their land against the invaders.

Legacy

The Throne law is seen as the reason the Exegi civilizations were not destroyed during the incursios. Due to this the Throne Law has become the symbol of Exegus unity and is treated with much respect.
