Men

Men are seen as physically strong and responsible for dealing with matters outside the home. A man is a fighter. Whether he fights nature on the land or an enemy in battle he must always be strong. Bargaining is also seen as a sort of battle in which both parties try to get the best outcome of the fight.

women

Women are seen as the managers of the home. This means they also oversee all finances. In merchant families the men go out to do the actual trade (this includes bargaining, inspecting goods etc.) but their wives what investments will be made.

Relationship Ideals

Husband and wife are, on paper, supposed to live in perfect harmony. The man works in the outside world to obtain all that is necessary to support his family which his wife manages. Both parties (male and female) help each other in there respective spheres, either the family or the outside world, but have no say in what happens in the sphere of the other.
