Illdsrest Caslte

Illdsrest Castle is the infamous fortress home of the vampire lord Seravith Von Strucker. housing a magnificent collection of books and scrolls of lore, weapons, and artifacts of power, and more undead spawn of Struckers cruel Bloodless Armies than one could imagine, The keep was typically a deathtrap and a place that few would even desire approaching. Home of the Struckers, the castle maintains a long and troubled history of a noble family of protectors, overthrown by their deranged inheritor, and ripped from the lands of muncaelo to forever stand amidst the shadows of Malumtra.

Purpose / Function

Originally a wooden fort at the entrance to a mountain pass through which traders had traveled for more than a millennium, Abirelli Castle stood as an assurance to the protection of the road, and a safe haven for weary travelers. This castle was destroyed by orc raiders a few decades after its construction at which point it was reconstructed as a fortified stone structure.

Alterations

After being reconstructed with stone as its base, the castle went through multiple innovations, with new sections being built atop the previous structure, and additional structures being built up and into the mountain, it stood upon. The major additions to the castle were the North wing, a four-story structure that now defends the North of the keep, the roofed ramparts, which were originally open to their surroundings, and the core tower, which had been increased with the addition of the North Wing, and the roofed ramparts.

Architecture

A medieval-styled structure, Illdsrest Caslte was designed and constructed with gothic techniques, though later additions would abandon the gothic stone styles, such as the North Wing which was designed in a simple stone brick fashion, and the upper floors which held a victorian wood and plaster style.

Defenses

Illdsrest Caslte houses many defenses, With a high, hard-to-reach elevation, thick walls, nonsensical interior corridors and paths, and arrow slits, invading the castle and navigating its structure would prove a bane to anyone. However, as the structure was home to Count Von Strucker and his experiments, the castle's defenses had been reinforced with a powerful spell that prevents anyone without express permission from Count Von Strucker, his allies, or without one of his keys could not enter the premises, being impeded by an invisible barrier when attempting to.

History

Originally a guarded fort, and eventually a fortified home and last line of defense for the Abirelli family, the castle experienced many wars of attrition, defending against many invading forces, and even falling to some. But nowadays, it acts as little more than a show of power and inconvenience to those who oppose the Count of Illdheim, housing many of the monsters it once held at bay.

Tourism

Adventurer's seeking to overthrow the dreaded vampire lord Count Von Strucker, will enter his domain within Malumtra, and eventually enter Illdsrest Castle, where they will climb its stories, and face off against Struckers soldiers before facing him themselves.
