Plantweavers of Yore Forest

The Plantweavers of Yore Forest are an ancient branch of the very first peoples to settle in the Glowing Lands. It is estimated that they were part of the first Great Migration which saw the Original Peoples expanding out from the Middle Kingdom down south to the Glowing Lands and then further out to sea towards the Dreaming. They are a social and kindly people, who prefer to live in the forest. However, it would be a costly mistake to assume that they are simply "uneducated natives", a perception which has persisted among many, which has led to their well-deserved embarrassment. The Plantweavers are a sophisticated people who use a mixture of technology and ancient knowledge and traditions to harvest, cultivate and process rare herbs and spices from the forest.   It is said that their knowledge of plantlore in the Glowing Lands is second to none, though they admit readily that their tracking skills pale compared to some of their brethren. They are also generous with their knowledge, gaining a well-deserved reputation for hosting many educational seminars and gatherings to help local Plant Mages familiarise themselves with both the lay of the land and the plants within.

Range

The Plantweavers of Yore Forest operate, as the name suggests, within the boundaries of the Yore Forest. However, they do not follow the boundaries as laid out by the Government, but rather a much older one, when the tree cover was much denser and wider throughout the Glowing Lands. The Plantweavers have both oral and written traditions; their histories suggest that they follow the boundaries as set during the heydays of the Macaranga Kingdom, some 100 years after the fall of the Gooseberry Empire. Following this boundary allows them to move and preserve much more of the forest than would otherwise be possible; many a Wilting Royal Family "agriculture" agenda has had to be scrapped due to the pricelessness of the herbs found in such places.

Trade

The Plantweavers export a wide variety of plants and herbs. They are also fairly aggressive, in comparison with other Original Peoples, in marketing their wares extensively. This has created a demand for their wares, as while the Plantweavers offer a wide range, that range essentially has small stock. This has indirectly created a high demand which can never be satiated. The Plantweavers use this as an opportunity to travel, meeting up with fellow Plantweavers across the region and other Original Peoples. They also hold regular talks and workshops on herblore.

Conclusion

After extensive investigation, I have concluded that there is nothing sinister about the Plantweavers of Yore Forest's endeavours. In fact, they are to be commended, not condemned, for being able to break out of the poverty cycle that plagues so many other Original Asal. I recommend that the Original People Department would stand to benefit in fulfilling the responsibilities of their office if they were to sit down and have a sincere dialogue with the Plantweavers of Yore Forest, instead of maligning them and accusing them of standing in the way of "progress" which is to destroy the very grounds on which they live.   This is my humble assessment and complete report.   I who have fulfilled my duty Liew Mun Yee Plant Scholar and Letter Mage Muddy Estuary Office.
