Bird Made of Stone
Bird Made of Stone
(To the Tune of Concrete Angel by Martina McBride)
He runs a race on a lonely track
He tells the lies and he doesn’t look back
He tried his hardest but he doesn’t place
No one to look when he shows his face
The herd supports him, but then, they all know
When it gets this bad, then it’s time to go
Sometimes the cracking simply runs too deep
Broken by secrets he could never keep
Through the wind and the rain
He stands still and alone
In a world that he can’t rise above
But the birds share their wings
They fly him to a place where
He’s loved
Bird made of stone
In the darkness a little mind calls
Herd hears the pain but can do nothing at all
Problems too big to fight all alone
All he can do is to try to be strong
Through the wind and the rain
He stands still and alone
In a world that he can’t rise above
