Morgandal

The end of the Martine Empire is upon the land. The Emperor is weak and his Dukes have ignored his commands and rule their lands as they see fit. Areas of the landscape are feeling the effects with local Landlords ruling their counties with iron fists to keep order in an ever growing anarchic society. Several families are vying for consolidating a new empire under their rule.   Though dominated by mankind, the world of Morgandal is called home by groups of Elves, Dwarfs and lesser races. The Dwarven world is an small Empire in its own right with its own form of government and politics. Agreements were made with the Dwarfs by the Founders of the Martine Empire to allow them autonomous rule even on Empire lands. They hold a large chunk of land within the Norther Steps where true boundaries are more fluid than in the south. The Elves on the other hand live in harmony within the Martine Empire, having found themselves conquered over a century ago. Some think they are biding their time, waiting for a fabled deliverer. Someone who will lead them out of their subservient role in human society to form their own empire.   Rumors have it that there is a magic leader who is seeking the throne not by sword and steel but by other less physical means. No one knows who this leader is as he keeps himself secret from all but his most loyal inner circle.
