Avar
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Avar average slightly below the mean height of most races, and have complexions that vary across a spectrum of bronze. Their most obvious defining physical feature are the two huge, feathered wings that sprout from the back, just below the shoulder. These wings are large and powerful, with dedicated muscular in the Avar's large chest that allow for flight. Additionally, due to the muscular power, reach and weight behind them, an Avar's wings make for powerful striking limbs.
The Avar skeletal system is notably distinct from those of other races - semi-hollow bones with a honeycomb construction, similar to those of many birds, keep their bodyweight low enough for flight. These bones are somewhat less durable than comparable solid bones, but are robust enough for flight and most stresses. In addition, Avar have an additional skull fenestra, or opening, behind the ear, reducing overall skull weight.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
An Avar's eyes are distinctive, being unlike those of any other Outlander race in form and function. Aesthetically, their irises are wide and vary from red to yellow, across a spectrum of orange - the Avar ocular orbit has dark pigmentation in a ring around the eye which reduces dazzling from the sun while flying. While these specialised eyes are notably sharp in their visual perception, they are also capable of selective magnification to 'zoom in' on distant objects. This visual prowess makes Avar exceptional air hunters.
