Critical Rolls!

Attack Rolls
When you score a critical hit, you normally get to roll extra dice for the attack’s damage against the target. Instead, you will max out your damage die, and then roll your damage die. Adding these two numbers to your appropriate attack modifier equals the damage dealt.   For example, if you score a critical hit with a Greataxe, roll 1d12 for the damage, and then add the max of 12. Adding your relevant ability modifier to the number is the damage dealt by the attack.   If the Attack involves other damage dice, such as from the rogue’s Sneak Attack feature, you roll those dice the same way, adding the max possible result to the roll. 3d6 Sneak attack becomes 3d6+18.

Skill Checks
Rolling a natural 20 when attempting to perform a skill check is NOT considered an automatic success, unless the character is proficient in the skill.

Saving Throws
A Natural 20 will count as an automatic Success when making a Saving Throw
