The High Magisterium of the Hierophant

The High Magisterium of the Hierophant is the spiritual and ecclesiastical centre of The Holy Church of Mankind's Redemption.

Purpose / Function

The High Magisterium is the personal temple of the High Magister, located directly adjacent to the High Eight-fold Temple, which was the personal church of the Hierophant.

Architecture

The High Magisterium is T-shaped in plan, with a broad nave and a transept of the same length as the Nave. It boasts one of the highest vaulted ceilings of any church anywhere, supported by lofty flying buttresses which in turn frame vast stained glass windows depicting the Works of the Hierophant and the Twenty Scholars. Suspended from the ceiling of the central vault is a vast censer which swings in a great arc to and fro, its trajectory ever shifting according to the subtle divine designs of the Maker. The nave is oriented along the axis of northwest / southeast, with the transept at the northwestern end. Above the great altar towers a vast round window of surpassingly intricate and mathematically inscrutable design.

History

The High Magisterium was built at the request of the High Magister in the year 1360, the one thousandth anniversary of the Occultation of the Hierophant, to permit the Magister to seal the High Eight-fold Temple until the day of the Hierophant‘s return.
