The Blinding Peacock

This story is a Moonbrim Myth thought to have been created in 1711. The Blinding Peacock goes like this:   There once was a peacock, as gorgeous as a bird could ever be. His feathers shone from miles away. He was famous in every corner of the land and yet, he still hunted for more glory. He was always searching for more ways for his feathers to be even brighter. Till one day he hears legend of an old sorcerer in the mountains who grants wishes if someone could survive the treacherous climb. The peacock didn't think twice before starting his journey. After six long days he finds the sorcerer and asks one thing: "Make my feathers shine brighter then the sun herself!" The sorcerer nodded and granted the birds wish. As soon as the spell was placed the peacock ran right back to his town, but to his dismay, no one could look at him! His feathers were so bright they nearly blinded anyone would looked. The peacock tore back up to the mountain and found the sorcerer once more. "Oh sorcerer! My feathers are to bright! Why, no one can look at me!" The sorcerer shook his head. "There is a cave to the west of here." He tells the bird. "Find it, and rest in it until your feathers fade." With no other options the peacock goes to the cave. Spiders inhabit it from top to bottom, and there ceases to be a single place comfortable. But still, the peacock lays down and falls asleep. He sleeps for three years before awaking. His feathers had faded to a dull brown, without a shimmer in sight. No wishing to stay any longer, the peacock go to his town, lacking even a little sparkle for the rest of his life.
