Slime

Basic Information

Anatomy

The core of a slime consists of very densely packed slime, and possesses a face capable different expressions based on its mood. The core is protected by an outer layer of much looser corrosive slime.

Genetics and Reproduction

When a slime gets large enough, it looks for humans to attack it in hopes of allowing it to split itself into several different slimes. Sometimes, this backfires, as a human may decide to kill off the smaller slimes for their slime balls.

Growth Rate & Stages

Depending on the location, the spawn rate of slimes are either hindered by the light level or unaffected. Underground, they are unhindered by light levels, while they are on the surface of swamp biomes. If a slime is tagged to no longer have a despawn timer, it will eventually grow in size over time as it moves around before being ready to divide itself. As the slime grows larger, its outer layer of slime becomes increasingly more corrosive.

Ecology and Habitats

Swamps are the optimal surface biome for slimes to spawn and live within. Underground, there are certain areas within certain caves that produce slime and are able to spawn slimes as a result.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Due to being a mob, slimes do not require sustenance. Although if two end up fighting to the death, the victor will merge with the loser and consume its core.

Biological Cycle

When a slime decides to sleep, it will flatten itself. The slime of its outer layer will condense and become near-solid. When it awakens, its outer layer will slowly liquify as it moves again.

Additional Information

Domestication

Domestication is as simple as a human allowing a slime to accompany them, so long as they don't mind getting covered in the messy and potentially harmful slime residue.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Slimes are frequently hunted for their slime balls, which is used in making leads, sticky pistons, and slime blocks.

Average Intelligence

Slimes are typically less intelligent in some areas than most other mobs and even lack the pathfinding AI that most have, which often causes them to be easily manipulated and avoided, or for them to be tricked into jumping off cliffs or into lava, or lured into traps. They do, however, possess a developed enough AI that allows them to have emotions and to care for beings other than themselves, which many mobs lack. They even have the capability of being trained to understand basic commands, similar to other pets.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Slimes, like a majority of mobs, have poor vision and can only see movement up to thirty-two blocks and entities up to sixteen blocks away. Their hearing is fairly good, they can hear humans conversing from up to sixteen blocks away. Their sense of smell and taste is virtually non-existent, though their sense of touch is far more developed than most mobs as they are able to identify anything that comes in contact with their slime.

Civilization and Culture

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Slimes in general love humans and all have the intense desire to be close with them, causing them to cease all activities in order to pursue a human when one is close enough. This is, however, often misconstrued as the slimes being hostile towards the humans due to the corrosive slime covering them harming humans upon contact, and they are often attacked in self-defense.
