The Wild Mountains

These are a series of large mountains and deep valleys that hide many wonders and make up the border between Mihr and the neighbouring kingdom to the west.

Notable locations

The Blessed Lake

A large lake lies in one of the many valleys. The water is crystal clear and the whole forest around the lake is thriving. The grass is as thick as a bed and the trees are enormous and filled with life. Some swear that they're so healthy that they move and talk! But those are only stories, right?   If one dares to venture through these wild mountains there is no place more worthy of visiting than this magnificient lake. It is even said that the water helps protect oneself from the evil forces of the world. An aspect which makes the lake very interesting for adventurers, priests, and even some pilgrims.

The Eastern Caves

In the eastern mountains there lies a intriguing set of caves. They are natural to a start but if one dares venture further in, past the piles of bones from villagers captured by the denizens of the cave, and then past the mysterious lake within the cave, there in the furthest reaches of this cave you'll find a small throne room. This room contains runes written in both dwarven and giant. There is a beautiful throne carved out of marble in the middle of the room. The hall is said to have been owned by Eden, a forgotten piece of history. The throne room was sadly collapsed recently in the year of 298 A.M as a mighty priest of Mihr accompanied by great heroes and commander Urd destroyed the portal to Hel.   Something strange with the eastern caves is also that the surrounding woods have changed rapidly. Extreme weathers have hit some places turning them into a bitter cold tundra or barren wasteland. Trees have died while others have grown rapidly to a point where they rival the trees around the Blessed Lake. The animals have even changed, and turned into monstrous versions of themselves. Wolf with fangs made out of ice roam the tundra hunting for anything to eat. The change has however brought forth something amazing. A stag that is as large as a small house and its horns with their frozen tips look like branches reaching for stars. Each step that it takes leaves behind a circle of frozen grass, even if there was no grass there before. Legends say that a giant stag is an omen of good but no one knows what to make of one that spreads frost like this.

Ruins

There are some ruins in the mysterious mountains. One has an unnatural heat around it and there are no reports from it, not even reports of scoundrels plundering them. They are built from a strange stone as well which a goblin from the southern realm has identified as sandstone. One of the Blesse Lake's many rivers come from here.   Another notable ruin is the stone circle with the massive granite table in the middle. The stones are covered with inscriptions written in giant. The old runes say "Here lies Ali and Eden, may their union last even in death and shine as bright as it did in life." The newer runes seem to be attempts at flirting with some ghost who haunted the place. A strange and brave, or stupid, creature must have written that.
"Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

The Twilight Grove

This grove is not any special during the day. Almost nothing is special about it except for the strange amount of mushrooms growing here. The grove's name comes from it at night. The trees, undergrowth and even animals light up then. There are stories of great stags with blue shining horns, mushrooms that shine as bright as a torch in a cave, and even huge monstrous insects that hunt in the Twilight Grove. It is a magnificient and dangerous place at night. A traveler should therefore take notice if they have made camp in a part of the wild mountains with a significantly higher amount of mushrooms for they might then wake up from the glowing mushrooms and the terrifying clicking sounds of an elapoda.   Worth noting is that the mushrooms make for exquisite tea.
