Basic Information

Anatomy

This species looks like a normal horse until you look closer and see that it has 8 legs. All of the Afsleipnir have a grey color, from the almost white light grey variations or the dark grey that looks like the night sky.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce like normal horses, except that they lay eggs and those eggs are in there for 15-16 months. They mate for life. They mate in winter.

Growth Rate & Stages

The different stages in a horse's life cycle are birth, foal, yearling, colt (for a boy horse) or filly (for a girl horse), adult horse, and elderly horse.

Ecology and Habitats

They can be found virtually anywhere their owners take them, but in the wilds they live in high mountains. They lay eggs under the cover of snow on top of the mountain. One of the pair of Afsleipnir always is close and protects the baby while the other brings the egg food that it can eat when the egg cracks open.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It eats with its mouth, they eat grass and such. If there is a predatory or another plant eater on its food source they will try to intimidate them away by standing on their legs to look big. If they don’t go away they attack, they don’t kill unless the predator is close to killing the Afsleipnir.

They are not widely populated, the few that has been domesticated get used to their new surroundings.
