Session 9 Report

General Summary

Tarsakh 8th, 1492 Azid and the Rat Pack decided to explore the city and do some shopping. They noted the odd blue and purple skies with swirling clouds and a soft, steady breeze. Each of the districts in the city were made up of rings with the arena at the center of it all.   Azid, Geasle, Stinkbreath, and Spud stopped to get a bite to eat at a street vendor. They ordered what appeared to be a barbequed grasshopper with green flakes sprinkled on top. It was extremely spicy, and it cause Azid and Stinkbreath to gag and vomit. That’s when a plasmoid named Glebnor came over to show them up. He also vomited, but he played it off as a normal way for his kind to eat.   Yelling and the sound of combat came from nearby and party went to investigate. They saw that Radicus Tootha Maximus was being attacked by two clockwork assassins. Seeing the unfair fight, the party jumped in to help him as Glebnor just watched from the crowd. They defeated the would-be assassins and saved Radicus, who was very much obliged to them. He told them that Master Carvedous wanted him dead but could not just outright have him executed because he was so popular with the people. Thus, these robots were likely sent by him. Further, he asked them that when they were ready, to seek him out at the arena because he had something important to discuss with them.   Once the group was satisfied with their brief tour of the city, they returned to their new home under the arena. There they found Radicus waiting for them. He told them that he made a great new ally in a senator named Claudius Festicus. Radicus needs a way to contact him safely but fears his fame will out it all at risk. With these new fighters being so unknown, they could potentially act as his contacts with the senator. The group agreed to help him and would set out first thing in the morning.   Tarsakh 9th, 1492 The following morning, the Rat Pack went straight for Senator Festicus’ vineyard on the outer ring of the city. It was there that they discovered why they were allowed to roam so freely as slaves. They were on a floating island over a gaseous planet. Other islands drifted in the air around them in the distance.   Finding the senator, he told them that he had on good authority that there was an active slave collar that wasn’t attached to anyone, but it was in the possession of some criminals. At a restaurant called Gar-Snook’ies, a boss by the name of Mr. Meanie used a back alley as his base of operations. The alley was only accessible through the dining room.   At the restaurant, Stinkbreath distracted the hostess as Glebnor disguised themself to look like an employee. Pretending to be the hostess, she walked back into the kitchen and found a gargoyle statue wearing a chef’s hat and holding a key in one hand. She reached to take the key but then the gargoyle came to life and asked what she was doing. She started to tell him that she was going to check and see if Mr. Meanie wanted any potato skins, but the gargoyle was already exhausted with listening to her. He told her to stop talking and just go away.   With the key, the party went through the door to find Mr. Meanie and his thugs in the middle of a card game. Glebnor tried to continue the ruse, but it didn’t work, and the thugs were sent after them. They fought and killed the thugs and Mr. Meanie, taking as much loot with them as they could in addition to the collar.   Returning to the senator, the party handed over the collar. Festicus was pleased with their accomplishment and assured them that he would have someone begin working on the collar at once. He was confident that they would figure out how they worked and put an end to the slavery going on in the city.
