Elves, humans, dwarves, and orcs live (unhappily) side by side in a faux-Victorian society. Elves typically make up the ruling class, with some humans, but dwarves and orcs from other parts of the world typically take up trades or artisanship. Elves are naturally magical, and use that to their advantage, but dwarves and humans work at training their powers. Orcs have none.   Orcs typically live in clans outside "civilized" towns, making up their own societies. Dwarves have their own cities as well, whereas humans live wherever they can. Elves created most of the most powerful cities, having the most socioeconomic weight, and it is there that most cities are Elf-based, with other races merely living in it.   Most areas are settled these days, with some explorers going out into the Wilderness. The countries have mostly been set in their borders--but there is a constant worry and anxiety about attacks from other lands, hungry for land and power.
