The knight removed his helmet, dark close-cropped hair plastered to his head from his exertions. His frame is solid, a natural fit to his well made Arthedain armour. He reaches out a hand to help his downed squire from the mud. "Good Tom, you held the shield for longer this time. Your technique is improving. You soon will have the strength to carry both shield and sword in practice. Then your training will start in earnest." "But I am ready now sire" replies Tom, eyes wide in appeal. "You think you are ready, Tom. However, it is not merely the ability to swing a sword and defend with a shield that makes a great knight. It is the strength to hold when a thousand blows rain down and strike when the moment arises. It is to be able to hold the line when all looks lost and in the hour of darkness to bring light. Now, I am need of refreshment. Come help me out of this armour." Moving gracefully, the knight makes his way to the nearby armouring tent, his squire trailing behind.

Personal history

As an infant, Valanaque's parents both died from the plague, leaving him orphaned. Thankfully, he was raised by his aunt the Dame Noirin. Enjoying all the benefits of the heir to a great house, Valanaque has been schooled by his aunt in Dunadan tradition and honours. He holds this dear to his heart. As a young man, he trained not only to bear arms but to act as a commander in the Royal Army. Commanding on the Northern Marches with the distinction he has rapidly gained a reputation as being an astute tactician and a courageous leader. Still, he seeks more, driven by the Dunadan ideals instilled by his aunt he uses the time away from his military duties to seek out the hidden foes of Elves and Man as a Knight Errant.
