Fellowship of Tilion

A small cart laden with packages pulled into the village. Gaunt, hungry and weary villagers came to the doors of their dwellings. Two men and a woman, dressed in plain grey, got down from the cart and began to unload. With a smile, they began to hand out clothes and food to the grateful people. A small girl, with grubby yellow hair, nervously drew close to the woman as she handed a package to the girl's mother. The girl smiled nervously at the woman, who smiled back and gave the child a hug. Something silver glinted at the woman's throat, a small silver crescent, the child was fascinated. She hugged the woman back and followed the her around the village as she went about administering care to those in need.

Structure

Two Arch-preceptors one for Gondor and one for Arthedain each preceptor will have two sub-preceptors one for the overt aid program (logistics) and one for the covert arm. Although the latter appears to be in charge of fiscal matters. There will be a council of preceptors who are responsible for organisation and training at each of the almshouses and leading in the field. Below these are the journeymen, novices and initiates.

Public Agenda

To provide alms and aid to those within the Dunedain kingdoms where needed. Currently, the greatest need in Arthedain where the Great Plague and the resulting famine has devastated the population.

Assets

Two almshouses, one in Fornost the other in Osgilith act as central locations. There are smaller lodges placed strategically on routes between the two cities to provide housing and logistic routes for travelling members. They are funded by donations from the kings and nobles of both realms and smaller donations from grateful travellers. There are also some lands from which tithes are collected and in addition, a small trade network.

History

In the first age, Tilion was a hunter of Orome who took the last flower of Teleperion into a vessel that became the moon. Morgoth assailed the moon with his dark creatures and was beaten back. Elves who loved the moon, mostly Silvan, formed a loose organisation of hunters of creatures of Morgoth that hid in the dark. During the second age, with the withdrawing of the elves and the arrival of the Faithful, this task passed to the Dunedain who were of like mind. At the end of the second age, the company of Tilion who fought in the Battle of Dagorlad, fearing that not all the dark creatures were destroyed, reinvented itself to disguise its purpose and allow it to continue with its primary purpose. Setting up bases in the Northern and Southern Kingdoms, it continued as a small organisation providing for those in need.
