Dúfr's journal

Long have we sought the Maznalalbam, seeking to return it to the ancient halls to ward against the fury of our enemies. Now too late we discover that the map stone was shattered across the land during the great sundering and is in danger of discovery by our corrupted Firebrand brethren. So we seek the shard within the ancient halls of Jöruvalla beneath Caras Celairnen.

Rekkr's nose has proved as accurate as ever, we have found a secret passage that leads beyond the false delvings into the ancient halls. Our spirits soar with confidence and the pleasure of being able to walk the halls of our forefathers. Nodri the Delver guides us with Litr's Stout hammer and shield to protect our rear. We have dwarf bread aplenty and the Durin's light of Rekkr lights our path. We cannot fail in our task.

How our hearts mourn for the fallen glory of these ancient halls. The great trappings have all but gone. Where once a hundred light stones would illuminate these halls now all appear gone. Stately hangings are torn down and majestic carvings are defaced by we know not what. Robbers or evil creatures we cannot tell. Yet our hearts are stout and we continue into the darkness with the hope that the shard remains hidden in these halls.

We are beset by a plague of goblins. Nodri fell under the first onslaught but by Lotr's strong arm we made the sanctuary of a side chamber in the Great Hall. Rekkr's incantations have held them at bay but Nodri's soul-flame teeters on a knife-edge. We cannot go leave this area without a war-like stance yet Nodri's wounds make this impossible. We must wait and hope that are companion recovers.

Rekk'r runes still hold - Nodri improves. Litr keeps watch, while I explore the side rooms. It appears to be a scholar's dwelling. I have found many tomes on stone lore which prove most interesting. SHould I be able to return to recover them they will add to our Forefather's lore. One such volume appears to relate to the map stones. It suggests that when the seven are joined that they will project a map of the location of the hold containing the Maznalanbam onto a surface. However, each stone is unable to do so in isolation.
