The Reform Church
The Reform Church was founded over a theological split from the Universalists. Reformists teach that Aru is the one true god of all humans, but is merely the greatest part of a pantheon that includes a deity for each race. The so-called Devonian Heresy, first proposed by a priestess named Devona, led to a half-century of war before finally ending in the schism of the church. Universalists and Reformists still tend to view each other with a level of suspicion. The Reform Church has no official stance on the gargantua, but its members tend to think of the great monsters as outside Aru’s divine jurisdiction.
Reform Extremists A small but growing sect within the Reform Church preaches that Aru is locked in a cosmic struggle for divine supremacy with the gods of the other races. They do not welcome non- human worshippers of Aru, and in some cases have even committed acts of terrorism against non-human communities in human lands. These beliefs and actions have been officially condemned by the Reform Church, but in the aftermath of the Great War, anti-elven racism has driven up the numbers of the Extremists. Some Reform Extremists have begun preaching that the gargantuan attacks are an aspect of Aru’s holy war, and will only end when the god defeats his divine enemies.
