Lingua Miasma

I believe we are speaking the same language, yes...

"I have to say it is damn convenient that we all can understand each other so well... Well, at least those who are not Intelligible. Poor sods. Don't worry, that cough and headache is soon gone...
— Rick Astley, towards a newcomer suffering from the negative introductory effects of the Lingua Miasma.

General

Ever wondered why everyone in Alézun'Teran appears to speak the same language, or at the very least, understand each other nigh perfectly? One of the most accepted reasons for this is due to something known as the Lingua Miasma.
How exactly it functions is not well understood, but most are certain it was created by Architect before the Great Sorrow.

Negative Introductory Effects

While the word miasma has something of a negative bearing to it, most see the Lingua Miasma as something wholly positive. It does affect newcomers, however; those who are from one of the Nexus Realities and end up in Varldstan Cericor, for example, and that with some relative negativity.
They may experience headaches, nausea, an itchy throat, and possibly a cough. Not everyone gets the same series of symptoms, however. These negative introductory effects only last for a few days at most, however, though rare long-lasting cases have been documented.

Translatable Miasma & Intelligible

One theory regarding the Lingua Miasma, is that it translates any existing language to that which the person understands innately.
This has some merit if one includes the Intelligible, a colloquial term for those rare few who either cannot be understood through speech or cannot understand others through hearing. They either speak a language no one understands, or it is the reverse.
Some Intelligible only have a few words where this appears to be the case, though they are even rarer. This is believed to include individual names of certain species, though it is still a highly debated topic.

This is a good tool to explain how everyone from anywhere is speaking to one-another.
