The Father

Description

The Father, Bull, Chief, Allfather is the god of the sky, law and justice throughout Apias.   He has many responsibilities including areas around the Tempest, Order, Light and War.

Dual Aspects

His dual aspects are very similar, but with several typical differences. One stands tall, lightly built, power flitting from an outstretched hand, dressed in regal robes. The other, seated but the same height as the first, thick hair and beard and a thunderbolt in his off hand. He wears a gleaming breastplate. In both cases his eyes are calm and apathetic.   Traditionally betwixt the two gods is a mighty bull, typically made of gold or silver, gleaming in the temple's flickering light. Both of them have an arm resting on this creature, the standing with a hand on its horns and the seated on one of its flanks.

Significant Worshippers

The priests of the Father, Paltores, typically wear a bull's head amulet around their neck and dress in one of two ways, either in rich, elegant robes, or in a solid breastplate. The former when they preach to the masses and the latter when they deliver judgement.   Very often these priests are looked to as judges on legal matters, and as such their appointment can be a bone for some political pressure.   The Father is worshipped throughout Apias, however, his greatest following is in the Beskus Empire, where Humans use the father's word to espouse the virtues of purity and sanctity of family as well as to further the Beskan imperial aims. The Paltores coming from Beskus tend to be some of harshest judges, often having the backing of the Cleansing Inquisition. In its representations the Bull is typically larger in Beskus, representing the nation itself, and both of the gods tend to look more human than they do in other depictions.

Divine Representatives

There have been few truly divine representatives of The Father himself, much like many of the other gods of Apias.   There are a few heroes espoused in Beskus, Dafol Tilher, the founder of the Cleansing Inquisition is supposed to have been a powerful cleric of the father, and was the first to spread his word throughout Beskus during the war for their freedom for the Collective. It was he who preached that the Beskans should stand up for themselves, and let the other nations deal with their own problems. It is not for them to aid or hinder, the Father's Judgement should be left to find them without interference. The current leader of the Inquisition is rumoured to be similarly endowed with power, however, their identity is a well kept secret to those outside the organisation.   People talk that there must have been other representatives, however, in recent times they have been few and far between, local preachers commanding little power.
