Mars surface

Observing the red spheroid, white poles, from space it seems barren, atmosphere dust coloring the thick gas layer red. During the night signs of civilization becomes clear as pockets of light dot the surface. It took about a hundred years to make this place livable, time to see what it has to offer.
Losing contact with Earth was a shock at first and when all forms of communication and even an exploratory mission was lost without a trace people became scared. It has been decades and people have gotten over it, free from the influence of Earth, culture was able to develop freely. Now the memory of Earth is nothing more then the grey orb you can vaguely see through a telescope.   With a total population of about 20 million, the planet is sparcely populated. People are divided into four "countries".   The Wastes
Komorebi
Basilla(location)
Freland(location)   The countries are located in a sort of triangle. The Wastes in the middle, Komorebi far to the north, Basila to the west and Freland to the south-east.   Time on Mars:
Martian days and years are different from Earth days and years and it's one of the few places where Earth's influence can still be felt. Martian days, called sols, are 24 hours, 39 minutes and 40 seconds long. Just like Earth clocks, a martian clock has twelve indicators which pointers go through twice in a day, though unlike Earth clocks, when the martian clock hits twelve for the second time (when it's 24:00) the clock will stop and a smaller clock inside the clock will rotate once in exactly 39 minutes and 40 seconds. The last 40 minutes of the martian day are known as the Dark Hour and there are many superstitions that apparitions become stronger in that time. Martian years (the time it takes the planet to revolve around the sun) are 668.6 sols. To account for the decimal, years normally have 669 sols, known as a longyear, and every fifth year will have 668 sols, known as a slowyear. This has made knowing a martian's age somewhat confusing for an earthling as a ten year old martian would actually almost be an nineteen year old on Earth, the general rule is if you want to know a martian's "Earth age", it's a little less then twice their martian age. With advances in genetics and healthcare in general, life expectancy is about 53 years or 100 Earth years. The martian year is divided in thirteen months, of which all seven uneven months have 51 days, and all the even months have 52 days. The months have the same names as Earth months except odeur, which happens between june and july. Weeks are eight days, monday, tuesday, wednesday, marsday, thursday, friday, saturday and sunday, with marsday, saturday and sunday often being free days.
