Tiefling

Tieflings are human-based planetouched, native outsiders that are infused with the touch of the fiendish planes, most often through descent from Fiend, and others who have bred with humans. Tieflings are known for their cunning and personal allure, which makes them excellent deceivers as well as inspiring leaders when prejudices are laid aside.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Tieflings tend to have an unsettling air about them, and most people are uncomfortable around them, whether they are aware of the tiefling's unsavory ancestry or not. While some look like normal humans, most retain physical characteristics derived from their ancestor, with the most common such features being horns, prehensile tails, and pointed teeth. Some tieflings also have eyes that were solid orbs of black, red, white, silver, or gold, while others have eyes more similar to those of humans. In many other ways, tieflings were similar to humans physically. Tieflings are, on average, just as tall as humans, from 5′6″ - 6′2″ and weigh just a little bit heavier at 140 - 220 lb. Tiefling skin is usually human-like in color, though extending past normal human colors into reddish hues as well. Tiefling hair is also often the same color as human hair, though dark blue, red, or purple are common shades amongst the race.

Biological Traits

The physical appearance of a tiefling often depends on the exact ancestry that spawned it, a bloodline that might have remained dormant for generations. Diabolic or demonic tieflings can, besides the common horns and tails, possess a forked tongue, leathery or scaly skin, the smell of brimstone, or even warm flesh. Some diabolic tieflings also sport goat-like legs or hooves. Tieflings descended from rakshasa might have furred skin or feline eyes as well. Most tieflings, however, only have one or two of these features as most are more human than fiend in their bloodline.

Growth Rate & Stages

For the most part, Tieflings mature at the same rate as Humans but live a few years longer. They are considered an adult around the age of 18 and grow up almost identical to how humans do. However, they do tend to live until 130 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

For the most part, Tieflings enjoy the hotter climates and tend to live in Savanna or Desert lands. Their infernal nature allows them to withstand the heat and the sun better than most other species. Of course not all enjoy the hot and dry lands and some move all over the land in search for the perfect weather.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Tieflings eat normal human food, but prefer meat, and enjoy it as rare as possible. They readily consume bone, gristle, marrow, blubber, and blood.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Unlike many different races that call Orburn home, the Tieflings are one of the few that despise any sort of social structure. Because of how often they are called out because of their heritage, most tieflings see everyone as equal. Of course there are some outliers that believe differently but for the most part, their society is simple with no differences in social structure.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

For the most part, Tieflings only stay in a small remote area on the west side of the land. Many call the  Maldock Empire and the Principality of Ilmanarlon their home. However, due to their nature, many choose to wonder the lands.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Thanks to their Infernal heritage, they have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. They can see in dim light within as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. They can’t discern color in Darkness however, and can only see shades of gray.
