Thaumaturgy

Magic is a concept only few can grasp, and even fewer understand it. It possesses the ability to alter the world around those that command it. It plays a huge role in the world, by creating the fabric of reality from the two forces known as Astral, alternatively known as the life energy mana, and it's counter the Void which creates spaces to be refilled with Astral.   One doesn’t project magic out of themselves, but rather manipulates the world around them, and an example of this would be a sorcerer muttering out an incarnation causing the flame on a nearby brazier to fling out as a fireball towards the target.   The most common grouping of magic comes from the Coven test during the earlier stages of organized magic before it was outlawed. These covens can be combined to create unique incantations. These are Enhancement, Transmutation, Emission, Conjuration, Manipulation, and Specialization.  

Covens

Enhancement

Enhancers are able to heighten aspects of their body to increase their effectiveness, such as focusing on the eyes for greater sight, hardening the skin to increase durability against attacks, focusing on healing for a faster recovery, and increasing the force behind a punch. It is one of the simplest Covens, but it holds the greatest potential for its versatility for each situation. Commonly confused it is distinctly different to Transmutation, although they are placed next to each other on the Coven Hex, it doesn't manipulate the body's properties but rather just enhances it.  

Transmutation

Transmuters are not limited to mimicking the properties of solid matter, they can alter the properties of the elements themself and combine multiple properties into a singular transmute to create unique combinations. It generally can't reach the pure raw power of Enhancement but makes up for it by allowing their combinations to work together forming devastating traps and hindrances to anyone subjected to it.  

Emission

Emitters are able to alter the world around them, by moving objects to be used as freehand weaponry, causing rock slides to block paths and even guide fire for short distances allowing for nasty burns against a target. It works by altering the space around oneself, but in return, the body temporarily becomes more fragile as all the energy protecting its spirit is extended outside the vessel. Extended mana appears to cap, with the more mana that is separated from the body, the shorter the distance it can travel from the body.  For those exceptionally skilled teleportation falls into this category allowing them to use their mana to tear a hole through the astral veil to form a gateway to the desired destination.  

Conjuration

Conjurers are unique in that they possess the ability to create, although for most these creations are permanent, with most being created in the moment of requirement and materialized after their purpose was fulfilled. They alter their own mana to form objects, however, these objects typically aren't as powerful as the physical object found in the world. To mitigate this downside it is common for Conjurers to dematerialize objects from the world around them to be materialized later allowing for concealment and for the item to be accessible from anywhere. Most objects decay as the mana sustains them depletes, however the most powerful Conjurers are able to link the object's mana to the world itself allowing them to create permanent objects that exist in the world that don't disappear when the Conjurer dies.  

Manipulation

Manipulators are often overlooked as their abilities don't look deadly on the surface, which is used to the benefit of corrupt Manipulators. They have the ability to alter one's perception of reality, such as creating illusions, manipulating emotions, and changing someone's memories. Those that are highly skilled Manipulators are able to control bodies as if they were a marionette on strings, thus taking free will and decisions away from the vessel.  Another potent ability of the masters is the ability to alter one's perception of the world so extremely that their body starts acting as if it is happening, an example being the thought their heart was being stabbed so their body starts to form a puncture wound and starts bleeding just like it believed to be true.  

Specialization

Specialists are unique in that they don't fit the other categories, with abilities covering a wide range.  It is one of the rarest covens to be placed with few mentors to assist in the learning of their unique skills, it is customary for Specialists to learn the Manipulations or Conjuration Covens for their close proximity to Specilists. This allows time for the Specialist's born gift to appear.
