Ralunhosh

Its name is derived from the tongues of Pinutek and Lipuhmtek, with it derived from the words "Raluntku hosh" meaning "Old Curse".  Its origins trace back to the Rlunchim ruins, once inhabited by an extinct group of ancient people from the Slande Archipelago.  Within one of these forsaken ruins lies the mutation laboratory, where perilous experiments in forced evolution were conducted on creatures, testing the limits of biological augmentation.  Now, the laboratory is an overgrown, decaying place, harbouring a highly corrosive mould that acts as the starting point of this disease.   The disease, Ralunhosh, manifests as small, painful boils filled with pus that emerge on the skin of the infected. These painful boils serve as the focal points for transmission, compelling those afflicted to bandage or cover the affected areas in a desperate bid to halt its spread. Highly contagious, Ralunhosh is predominantly transmitted through direct physical contact with the boils of an infected individual. Upon contact, the disease infiltrates the body through mucous membranes or open wounds. Ralunhosh boasts a unique trait, modifying the infected person's antibodies and white blood cells to create an exceptional immune response. The body's defence mechanisms become hyperactive, leading to the swift detection and elimination of other foreign pathogens, be it bacteria, viruses, or parasites. Thus, those suffering from Ralunhosh find themselves bestowed with an unprecedented level of immunity against other diseases, but paradoxically rendered vulnerable only to Ralunhosh itself. The symptoms of Ralunhosh initially manifest as fever, fatigue, and a general sense of malaise. Within a few days, the dreaded boils emerge, causing increasing discomfort and pain as the disease progresses.   To date, conventional treatments have proven futile in countering Ralunhosh's effects, and no cure exists for the affliction. Infected individuals can only attempt to manage their symptoms through pain relief and topical ointments, often resorting to bandaging the boils to hinder further transmission. Ralunhosh casts a shadow of fear and paranoia across the land, with communities such as the tribes of the archipelago shunning and outcasting all who are infected with it. Despite the trepidation, the disease's remarkable potential in providing immunity against other ailments has intrigued researchers and medical practitioners, sparking dark experiments of harnessing its unique properties for medical advancement upon unwilling victims.   Through the ages, Ralunhosh has at times travelled beyond the archipelago, with its first rapid spread occurring at the arrival of Josephine Slande and his fleet of ships, but its presence as been made aware reducing its spread in daily life. However, the disease continues to be a lingering threat, leaving an mark on the people it touches.
