Grotto

Grotto can be found in the country of Enser to the lower east up against a mountain. The settlement was originally founded as a small encampment to harvest the rubies that filled the cave that dug into the mountain. This supply of rubies did not last and soon was replaced as a stone quarry, but in recent times there has been a huge increase in iron making it erupt in popularity.   The village is broken up into three well defined areas, work field, residential and slums. The work field is a range of buildings used to store the mining equipment and the ore gathered. There is a large smelter used to break the ore down and then cool into blocks, which is shipped over to Virtuous or other settlements. The residential area consists of mostly stone buildings made out of wasted stone, but are designed beautifully. Only a handful of the houses are wood, with a small collection mixing the two together. The slums consist of mostly tattered cloth and wood. The slums act as the residential area of the poor miners just looking for work and food.   The settlement itself does not produce its own food because of the clay like soil surrounding them. This is outsourced to a village out on the path not too far away, the food is brought in on the way back after a shipment of metal is delivered.

Demographics

Separated into three distinct areas, the residential for the middle class, the workfield for the mining operations and the slums for the miners.

Industry & Trade

Highly dependent on the iron gathered and exported, because without that they won't have enough to bring foods in.

Infrastructure

They have a railway system connecting into the cavern and a few large smelters for the ores.

Architecture

Majority stone in a cheap Gothic style, not too many arches as to keep the construction cheap. Some do feature wood in to add details, but that is minor.
