Eight Thorns

"Preeh cries for the thirsty"

Written by Artgalles

Founded by the Stoic of Preeh it follows the worship of eight spirits. What makes this sub-faith different to her siblings is how the ancestors and other spirits aren’t worshipped as they are deemed lesser spirits, praying for them is still customary. This distinction makes it the only Totems faith that has a formal fashion to be conducted.   The totems consist of Searl, Preeh, Duagha, Nhetal, Lurnt, Marduh, Odhun and Shesire.

Searl

He is depicted as a baboon, he is generally associated with being a male, but there are few depictions saying otherwise. He is best known for his association with health, making his shrines natural hospitals to go for wounds to be healed. He also has an association with fertility, which is normally connected with Odhun to merge the aspects of marriage to it. This makes him naturally the patron of spring, making him very favourable to farmers.

Preeh

She is depicted as a reindeer and is best known for offering mercy and charity to those in need. Her gifts are in knowledge and information, this information is enough to allow one to survive the trials one faces. She also has an association with rivers, causing a great many boats to be blessed by her loving grace for safe passage.

Duagha

He is depicted as a mantis, he sits calmly waiting throughout the sessions for summer. Some illustrations depict him as the sun, but these are deemed more artistic language. Although he isn't associated with autumn he is the God of harvest as the end of summer provides plenty of bounties. Besides his hard-working nature, he is known as the god of simple pleasures, but these remain static till the work has passed.

Nhetal

They are depicted as a raven and are seen as the guiding point for spirits and souls looking to pass on. They help take the souls to their new life to be reborn, by taking the soul to the Ancestor forest and the spirits to the heavens. Most people who are brought back to life recall the raven before their spirit was taken. The only other association that is highly prominent is autumn where they clear up the land for winter allowing new births for spring.

Lurnt

He is depicted as a wolf, bear and cat. The association generally leans more on his hunter side which prioritizes his use of wisdom and knowledge to track down prey. In addition to being the hunter, he is also associated with winter, this is to make up for the lack of farming present during the bitter season allowing him to be the most worshipped during it.

Marduh

He is depicted as a dragon and lizard. He is known as the betrayer spirit, for he brought the War of the Flying Baron in the year -194. Even though he is strongly despised, he is known greatly for his mythical capabilities, but this arcane knowledge was hidden from the public once the first witch hunts began. In addition to governing the winds to being the bringer of wars, he is feared and no longer has high priests in service for him.

Odhun

She is depicted as an owl with a crested moon incorporated into her design. Her first association is the moons, often her shrines have an open roof allowing light from the moons in. She is also the patron of destiny and marriage, believing it is time to unite people as their lives draw closer to the end. Marriage is only offered to those pure of heart without greed or corruption, this goal is easier said than done and often is overlooked.

Shesire

She is depicted as a goat and is associated with empires and loyalty. She also holds the association of slavery, however this attribute was dismissed upon the banishment of slavery. Her dominating presence and silver tongue lends her to be a common figure amongst kingdoms, courts and other diplomatic fields. She is also directly tied to the creation of the Ashen in the year -231.
