Carnival Games
Across Merra, carnivals and fairs are often held to lift the commoners' spirits and celebrate certain days.
Bobbing for Apples
Players have 30 seconds to grab as many apples from a bucket of water using only their mouth. Depending on the location across Merra, it might not necesarily be apples. Dezarians often bob for potatoes whilst in Zemay they bob for spicefruit.- Depending on a player's skill, they get a particular die:
- DEX less than 10 = d8
- DEX 9-15 =d10
- DEX 16+ =d12
- Roll the die as many times as possible within time limit.
- Rolling a 6 or more nets 1 apple.
- Whoever has the most, wins.
War!
Two sides opposing one another pull at a single rope, trying to get the foreman to cross their border and lose.- Group Athletics Tests - average result vs their opponent's.
- The winning team gains a Point and the losing team loses a Point.
- On a tie, each team rolls a Group Constitution Save (DC15) or gains temporary exhaustion.
- Tactics may have an impact on the success or failure.
- When a team has 3 points, they win.
Shoot the Tiefling
Unfortunately, Tieflings are not well regarded across the Central Continent of Merra, seen as an offspring of monsters from teh Incursion and depraved men. A player is spun around 10 times, grabs the given crossbow and aims for the portrait of a tiefling target, usually 20 feet away. Whilst being spun around, it is customary to sing “A mad man east, a fiendling west, 9 days later, a tiefling pest!” A player has three tries. At the start of each Try, the player rolls a Constitution Saving Throw or suffers Disadvantage. The Difficulty Challenge is 20 for the first Try, 15 for the second and 10 for the final Try.- 20 (the heart) = 10 points
- 15-19 (the head) = 5 points
- 10-14 (the rest of the body) = 1 point
Junstol Pie Eating Contest
In Dezaria, the small village of Junstol has an annua pie eating contest. Players have to eat as many pies as possible. However, some of the pies are unconventional recipes. First the Player rolls a d6 to see what kind of pie they have in front of them.- 6: Tastes so good! No test for this one.
- 4-5: Just a pie.
- 3: Sweet Chewey Gooey– roll Nature Test (20), if passed, you find there's something utterly disgusting in the pie and the next next Constitution Save has a +3 DC.
- 2: Hot & Spicy! + the next next Constitution Save has a +1 DC, unless resistant to Fire.
- 1: It’s Just Gross – Bitter, sour and/or gristly. The next next Constitution Save has a +2 DC.
The Rodeo
Up to 4 players in a circular ring and have their own quarter. An animal such as a goat is led to the centre of the ring. Players have to persuade the animal to come into their quarter however they can without force.- Whoever rolls a DC17 charms the animal over.
- If no one charms the animal, it will attack the lowest rolling player.
- The player then tries to jump on and ride the animal. Roll 2 successive Animal Handling Tests (DC 15) - if successful they win the game, or otherwise are thrown of and disqualified.
