Oni (/oʊni/)

Deep in the heart of the mountains, the Oni roam. They are a proud and fearsome race, with a physical presence that demands respect and attention. Their towering stature and muscular build is a testament to their strength and endurance, while their tough, textured skin and impressive horns and tails hints at their demonic heritage. The Oni live in small, tight-knit societies centered around familial clans. These clans are led by a patriarch or matriarch who has proven their strength and leadership abilities in battle. Within each clan, there is a strict hierarchy based on strength and experience, with the strongest warriors and veterans holding the most power and influence. Despite their fierce and warlike nature, the Oni value loyalty and honor above all else. They have a strong sense of duty and obligation to their clan and their leaders, and they go to great lengths to protect their own. The Oni are also deeply respectful of their elders and ancestors, maintaining strong traditions and rituals that honor those who came before them.   While other races may refer to the Oni by their common name, the Oni have their own name for themselves, which is rarely shared with outsiders. The Oni refer to themselves as the "Gorai," which means "blood kin" in their native tongue. The Gorai see themselves as a unified and powerful race, bound together by their shared heritage and their formidable physical strength. While they may acknowledge the use of the name "Oni" by outsiders, the Gorai take great pride in their true name, which speaks to their identity and their unique place in the world.

Their tails are covered in tough scales and are often used as weapons in combat, lashing out at foes with incredible force. Oni are also notable for their large, clawed hands and feet, which they use to grip weapons and climb rough terrain. Their teeth are sharp and pointed, and they have a powerful bite.
