Novice Evanore Drach (a.k.a. Evy)

A Lady-in-Waiting at the Temple of the Ladies of the Pane, Evanore is the Meranese equivalent of None More [Visi]Goth. While not possessing the talent for stained glass herself, she's devoted herself to preserving the windows, being perhaps the only person to join the Cloister after the ban. Her fascination with the practice is largely aesthetic, as she appreciates both the sacrificial nature of the creation, and the windows' habit of predicting death. Stained glass, she believes, is truth, and she is truth's guardian.

She wears the patchwork tunic and headscarf of a Lady-in-Waiting of the Temple of the Pane. As a novice, hers has fewer colors than that of a Lady.

Personal history

Raised in a Vez commune, Evanore was expected to join her agrarian family in fulgurite harvesting, but she wanted more - specifically, she wanted to be a vitrix, and cut herself early and often hoping to demonstrate the gift and have an excuse to leave the farm. When that failed, she attempted glass-blowing, but lacked the skill for that as well.
When the ban on stained glass went into effect, the Senate allowed the Temples to remain open as museums - on the condition that they were staffed by non-vitrixes. Age 16, Evanore ran away from the commune and responded to the call, becoming a Lady-in-Waiting who devoted her life to protecting the windows. While she ostensibly works for the Merana Senate, Evanore and the other Ladies at the Temple are still in contact with the Matron of Insulam Merano.
She studies medicine as a hobby, being largely self-taught, but while the other Ladies of the Temple seek her out for healing, she prefers not to work on the living.
