Wirry

Also called a bugbear. Slightly feline, very fat and fluffy and toothy. Eat almost anything.
When the smalls were driven from their home and fled into the Wolfwoods, unable to defend themselves, they wandered into the territory of the monsters. Now the monsters saw no harm in these fat little fairies, and maybe they appealed to some long-gone instinct. Be that as it may, the monsters didn't eat the smalls. They cleared out a space for them in the Wolfwoods, a new territory for the smalls' village, and they told the other ghouls and fairies of the Wolfwoods to keep clear.
And so the two have been friends ever since.
