In 5013, humanity has colonized their arm of the milky way. Planets and people without number populate this vast stellar space: star states, stellar empires, reputation-currency anarchist collectives, galactic corporations. All held, nominally, under the sway of the Union of Colonized Planets. In practice the Union and its military do little but collect taxes, build and maintain warp-gates, and fight peacekeeping actions against pirate forces. If two star-states get into it, its Union policy to step back.   In this chaotic mess of a billion lives and a million planets, the cream of the crop are the Mechanized Cavalry. Striding tall above Mobile Infantry and Stellar Artillery forces, the Mechanized Cavalry go to war in story-tall Battlemechs, piloted by the Pilots: The one in one hundred people whose bodies can adapted to the enhancements and training needed to become the premiere fighting force in our galaxy.
