Lost Swamp
The Lost Swamp
In the center of the ocean there rise great trees whose roots also reach up to the sky. Their bark is thick and worn, intertwining branches and vines form a complex network of barriers. Only a few entry points exist, and once inside mist rolls in to reveal visions and nightmares. The swamp is its own entity, and if it refuses to grant entry into its heart, those entering will find themselves back outside its walls.
Note from a Vohai captain
We found what looks like a swamp in the middle of open ocean today. Upon attempting to enter we each saw something nightmarish, before finding ourselves back at sea. We attempted to enter via climbing over trees, but the branches and trunks have grown into a tangled web sealing itself off. While inside, we each felt as if we were being observed from somewhere close by. Snakes the size of the rowboat hung down from trees, each staring at us with those unnatural eyes. When we returned to the ship we attempted to fire a cannon into the trees, hoping that would clear a new path. The cannonball in question bounced off of one trunk and embedded itself in another. We left the area as a storm began brewing across the mass of trees and headed towards us. This group of islands is more unnatural and full of demons than the entirety of the ice sheets with the beasts under the surface.
Geography
A wide, dense mangrove forest with multiple maze-like paths along the water, found in the center of the open ocean. Only a few of these paths lead to its center, a shabby, sagging hut supported on roots and low branches where witches are rumored to live.
Ecosystem
Tightly-packed forests of mangroves and cypress trees create an intricate maze to pick through on one's way to the center. Massive snakes and crocodiles live here, hunting birds, fish, and small rodents.
Localized Phenomena
Visitors attempting to reach the old settlement at the center are confronted with visions of past mistakes and future promises.
Fauna & Flora
Mangrove trees, flytraps, pitcher plants and ferns are a few of the many plants living in the swamp. Massive pythons and smaller water snakes live in the trees and water, while birds and lizards make their homes in the tree canopy.

It's short and to the point. This isn't a bad thing. The note from the captain is what really captured my interest. I wish I knew more about the hut and why it's there.
