King Deonor

Deonor Kaft

Biological parent of Deofin Kaft IV   When Deonor had three twin sons he made the Edict of the Brothers, creating the Brotherhood of the Scrolls; the Brotherhood of the Fire; and the Brotherhood of the Blade. From this he decreed that when his sons came of age, an election by combat would take place to determine the Master of the Blades; with blades made by themselves, the best forgemaster becoming the Master of Fire; and the most cunning becoming the Master of Scroll. When Deonor died, the King decreed that the Master of Blade would lead the Kingdom with the council of the Master of Scroll and the Master of Fire's weapons.   Upon the reforming of the Kingdom in the Fourth Age, the tie between Master of Blades and King was forsaken in favour of traditional succession law and the Masters formed the Royal Council, consisting of:
  • King's Trust (regent & chief adviser)
  • Master of Blades (war adviser/kings guard)
  • Master of Seas (navy adviser)
  • Master of Fire (tech & weapon)
  • Master of Scrolls (law & scholarly insight)
  • Master of Coin (finance & trade)
  • Master of Spies (intelligence officer and spymaster)
When the kingdom was reborn in the early Fifth Age as the Aftrian Order, the Master of Shadows was added as the chief Shadow Knight and person in charge of The Plan, making the council a proxy council, with Master of Shadows usually holding the position of King's Trust also.   Although the position of Master of Shadow was publicly abandoned after the fall of the Aftrian Order, many of the Nine Kingdoms still hold a Chief Shadow and Shadow-in-Training as provided by the League of Elders
