Donfe Arnor

Donfe Arnor (2 - 68 F.A.), was the first Lord of Kaft, the village that would eventually grow into the Kingdom of Aftria; as well as the founder of the House of Kaft, being the ancestor of both the fabled Prince Deofin and the prolific conqueror, King Samel I. In 21CR, he founded the village of Kaft before the War of the Broken Blade was started between the House of Kaft and the House of Brocksfur. Lord Donfe's contribution to the War would end in 68CR when he was killed during the Battle for Two Stone Hill.
  Father to Anchios Kaft.

History

Arrival in Maruvia

Alike the supposed first arrivals by many of the world's first people, the arrival of Donfe into Maruvia is equally mysterious and nonsensical; having been shrouding in the fog of mystery for so long.   What is, however, discernable is that in the Year 21CR, a young armour-maker named Donfe Arnori crossed, along with many others including his future wife A'da, the "Togavan Desert"; a geographical problem that has stumped historians for more than an Age.

Founding of Oncharn

Upon crossing the Togave, Donfe is said to have helped build the city of Oncharn which "peeked the precipice back into the Togave". Due to this account, some scholars suggest that the ancient city of Oncharn is in fact what we now call the Peranite Ruins on the cliffs of Ankar.   While stationed at Oncharn, Donfe grew closer to a young girl named A'da, who would in a year's time give birth to their son Ponsus Oremos.

In Exile & the Founding of Kaft

By the Year 34CR, the group that had once travelled together peacefully now bickered and the city is said to have fallen under the weight of its hubris and so Donfe led those who would follow him away from Oncharnia, further south as they found the Great River Teranmo, where they got to starting anew.   Eventually, they had built the City of Kaft and the people elected Donfe as their righful leader. Slowly, more people emigrated to the city so that it grew to the size of 5,000 people by the Year 59CR. Due to this influx of people Donfe decided it was time to expand his rule to encompass more land so that he could continue to house and provide for his people, which eventually brought him to the doorstep of a rival Lord.

War of the Broken Blade

In the Year 59CR, Donfe Arnori, Lord of Kaft, declared War on the City of Brockstead after they had pillaged the western Kaft village of Ilma. What followed was a series of skirmishes along the Kaft/Brocksted border that culminated in the Battle for Two Stone Hill.   Two Stone Hill was a perfect vantage for the Kaft troops to infiltrate the mountain stronghold of Brockstead. However, one of the Kaft troops defected, leading to a battle on the small hill. Eventually, it boiled down to the two patriarchs fighting one-on-one, with Donfe ultimately being killed.

Legacy

Since his death in the early First Age, Donfe has been memorialised in several works of literature, theatre and song. Although for many he is solely known as the founder of the House of Kaft, he sowed the seeds for much of what would come to be in the following Ages.
