The Sentinels fled the Eternal Crisis and created our universe to escape.

During the Eternal Crisis, the war being fought forever between Sentinel and Celestial and as an effort of salvation, the Sentinels created our universe to save themselves but were followed by many Celestials. They were eventually defeated and their bodies became the planets in our solar systems. The stars are the Sentinels hibernating and providing for their creation.
