Though there's no programming putting them in the position, they are socially obligated to follow orders as given by Humans. Nothing outside of social convention enforces this, and most Androids follow it pretty well.

One android may build another with around 6,000,000 credits worth of advanced materials, proper facilities, and around one year of work. Usually a group of ten androids will share their own blueprints, offer upgrade ideas, and design a new robot over the course of two to four months.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Androids are made of very few biological parts, though they continue to add and subtract them randomly. Because of this, it's difficult to pin down the dietary needs of Androids as a whole. Most Androids require no sustenance, however.
