Crystal Clostures
Crystal Clostures are perhaps the most mysterious technology on the continent. These clear domed lids are made from rock crystal and together with a special gold and obsidian base, they will preserve whatever items are left within them way past their natural expected time to last. They can be large or small depending on what one is trying to preserve, and no one is quite sure who makes new ones, only that antique crystal clostures have occasionally popped up in hidden curiosity shops and have been found hidden in ruins, like in the Stone and Ruins city or in the burnt ruins of the Elfenbein Salt Flats cities. In families with magic, crystal clostures are one of the most important relics handed down through generations.
Social Impact
The most famous crystal closture was the one found in the Stone and Ruins City that preserved the Cambria Walking Scrolls. Up until this one was found and made public to the scientific community, these objects were only a myth that magical families passed on to each other.
Rumor has it that the Shadow Prince is in possession of one, and that it houses a very powerful object.
Access & Availability
Crystal clostures are a closely guarded secret of magical families, and to even have magic is a secret in itself. To have an artifact, carved from rock crystal, a material notorious for its difficulty in mining and working with, and bending that material into a thin, curved dome the thickness of glass, and to manipulate the material famous for its ability to throw off shiny rainbows of light every time you look at it, so that on a crystal closture it does the opposite so that you almost don’t want to notice or look at it. And how do these rock – the rock crystal dome and obsidian base – perfectly preserve what is underneath them? All mysteries. All needing to be solved by some enterprising explorer.
