Air Magic

Air magic is an Elemental Magic that controls the force of air and wind. It's generally the easiest magic type to control and is the most common affinity. While easy to learn, masters of air magic can pull off some truly impressive feats, including flight and even summoning huge wind storms or hurricanes. In general, wind magic is versatile and practical, without being too complicated.   Air magic in Latham Air magic is by far the most common affinity in Latham. While it is not treated as lesser, it's also generally expected that all air mages have a decent level of proficiency due to its ease. If an air mage is unable to display this certain level of mastery, they'll likely be scoffed at. Air magic is also the most common second or third element picked up in academies since it has no natural incompatibility with any of the other magic types. Air mages in academies are also the most likely to learn multiple elements due to this reason as well. Notable Lathian figures with air magic include Duke Berjya, Axel Disaster, Filynae and Sabre Lux.   Air magic in Dahmae Like all forms of magic in Dahmae, air magic is valued for its extreme versatility. While no form of air magic is treated as a guideline, there are many successful Dahmaenian businesses built around air magic and it's many applications. Some of it's more famous examples include everything from combatting sand storms to painting walls. Compared to the rest of the world, the ratio of air mages is significantly smaller, mostly because many other types of magic are able to thrive as well.   Air magic in Olubunmi Wind is seen as a sign of change. To use air magic is to dismiss change from your life and dwell in stagnation- something Olubunmians see as very undesirable. It is not practiced.   Air magic in Akora Air magic is associated with the Akoran goddess Lyn. Lyn, along with being the goddess of air and the wind, is also a goddess of knowledge and of war. Light breezes are the wind carrying secrets to Lyn, while strong gales are the result of her wrath. Praying to Lyn involves standing facing the direction of the wind with your hair tied up. If there is no breeze, you must look directly upwards. You must offer her a piece of knowledge, no matter how trivial, and let it be carried by the wind, before letting your hair loose. Due to the significance of hair in Akora, this symbolises Lyn understanding and acknowledging one's commitment, storing it away with the rest of her knowledge. If the wind is particularly strong that day, it's also customary to cut one's self and let the blood be taken by the wind also as a way to show that you would be willing to spill blood for the cause that has her enraged. This must be done once per day, or your magic will fade.   Air magic in Theor Grium With air magic being the most versatile affinity, air mages can be found all over Theor Grium working a vast variety of jobs. Commonly air mages are used in cloth making, food making and travelling, but if the council decides, an air mage can be incorporated into just about any sector of the economy. Due to this flexibility, air mages often have vast families in many different parts of the country.
