Ethis grew up up in the household of a duke, taught by some of the most renowned teachers who wanted to make marks on one of the largest families within the Magocracy of Loriande.
She has extremely high magic aptitude which got her specialist training from two of the core mages of the nation in preparation for training her to later join their council.
Even though she had a high aptitude people would always comment how she could always be less airheaded, this was always shown by the sometimes random acts she would do, like visiting different places in the town, or changing her dress multiple times during the day, which always kept her 14 maids on their feet.
Due to her status as the main heir of the dukedom she was always invited to parties by other nobles which has lead to her making many friends because her airheadedness makes people very hard to get angry at due to the fact she doesn't show off and treats people amicably. Even though she has many friends at parties, she is known for wandering as she loves the gardens some nobles have made, which she will prefer to visit over other parties. Due to her interest many of the lower nobles hired people to develop large detailed gardens including water features and other ornaments to gain the favour of her house.
Once she got older, people eventually got tired of her lighthearted attitude and airheadedness, they would still invite her due to her reputation but would have their parties indoors more often than not, while leaving the access to the garden open to her so she could stay out of the way but to still invite her as a guest.
During one party before she got to the garden she came across
Jade who was heading towards the servants quarters. Ethis watching from a distance saw her change clothes around a corner before walking in the servants quarters, only to come out half an hour later carrying a small bag.
Interested, Ethis approached Jade to see how she would act if confronted; she went up to Jade while she was still dressed as a maid and asked her about who asked her to collect the bag from the servants room, the which Jade replied saying how she left it there earlier in the day.
After a few more minutes talking, Ethis suggested to her to change back into her normal clothes so she could continue talking in a more private place that wasn't in front of the servants quarters.
After Jade changed and they headed to the garden, Ethis started by offering a job as a maid at her house, initially Jade refused due to her being the daughter of a baron, but after a bit of talking, Ethis mentioned that she wasn't looking for a maid but a spy, which Jade eventually acquiesced to joining her team.
Over the course of the next year, Jade was allowed to freely roam while completing small missions from Ethis, such as buying properties and businesses or gathering information and breaking into different houses for rare materials to use in magic.
