Maltea

June 26th, 2051

Maltea is a war torn land. While the kingdom is technologically advanced, the people of Maltea live in a more medieval style. Soldiers of the kingdom are eligible to have guns and more advanced transportation, such as speed bikes. Meanwhile, the rest of the Malteans use weapons such as crossbows and spears for their daily life, and tend to use horses and wagons to get around, if they have enough money to own one. The monarch of Maltea, King Rigel, is a proud man. When revolutionists led a peaceful protest to try to convince him to revoke the law that forced eligible young men and women to be conscripted, he responded by having the palace guards capture or even kill the protesters. This sparked a revolution in the kingdom, and started a civil war in Maltea. Magic is also a serious part of Maltea's culture. While most Malteans believe it to be a myth, stories of wizards and enchantresses are whispered in every home. There was a point in time, much like the Salem Witch Trials, where Malteans were terrified of even a whisper of magic. They executed anyone who was even rumored to have magic in their blood. After this bloody time, most of the fuss about magic died down, and any enchantresses and wizards that might have still been alive went into hiding. Now, most Malteans think of magic as a beautiful fairy tale that they were told about when they were children.
